A: Yes! As a General Contractor we are in good standing with the State of Maine as well as all Municipalities across the state. We follow the IRC 2016 International Building Code. As well as Maine Uniform Building Energy Code. Depending on the size of your town or city will dictate which code to follow. We are Insured, and pay into Workers Compensation. It is important that you know the difference between a General Contractor and a Specialty Contractor. One big difference is that a General Contractor can legally hire subcontractors (i.e. plumbers or electricians) to work in your home. General Contractors also carry more liability insurance which is important when it comes to protecting your family and home.

A: We are a prescreened Home Advisor Contractor. We have an A+ Rating on the Better Business Bureau. We are members of the NAHB (National Association Home Builders), We are an EPA-Certified Lead Paint Removal Company.
A: Yes, we will provide all necessary drawings needed to pull a permit. We will pay for the fees and bill you at the end of the project for them.

A: American Builders Maine works with many local architects, structural engineers & designers. Each project is unique and will require drawings.
A: You will get a very detailed proposal explaining the process of your project. It will have a timeline and start date. It will have language that pertains to change Orders and how and when they are paid. American Builders Maine follows Maine-Contract law guidelines.
A: You will get a copy of our insurance accord once you decide to enter in a contract with us. The insurance accord will be in your name. We have a copy of our Insurance Certificate below. Please call the number listed.
A: We typically show up between 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. We work through the day until 4:00. If we can’t make it due to inclement weather, we will call you and let you know. Some weekend work will be done to keep on schedule.
A: Yes, we take American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Pay Pal. If you decide to use a credit card, we will need to charge an additional 3% of the project total. All prices are based on receiving a check. We have put our best forward in giving you the very best project cost.
A: If your home was constructed before 1978 the chances of your home having lead paint is 90%. If a project is being done of any type in your home or the exterior proper precautions need to be followed. If you hire a contractor and they do not follow protocol they are placing you and your family in danger. The fines in doing so are $37,500.00.
